Judging Your Manuscript - Objectivity Counts

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

You’ve finally done it. After countless early mornings or late nights—or, more likely, burning the candle at both ends—you’ve finished writing your book. It’s time to turn your manuscript over to an editor. But before you do so, one tiny and niggling question remains: is it any good?

As painful as it may be, it’s time to get some quality feedback. But don’t send it off to your mother, favorite aunt, or best friend. Chances are these people are well aware of all the sweat and tears that went into your book, and that will make them less than objective.

Book Review - A Song For The World, Music, History, Leadership

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

We live in an information overloaded society, yet we actually know so little. While I was reading this book I took a straw poll of some people I know, and 100% of them had no idea who the Colwell brothers, or Herb Allen are. So much information, yet so little knowledge is a real problem in today’s world. The three cowboy brothers and Herb, probably did more for world peace, or at least peaceful co-existence than any President, or any government organization has ever done. Frank McGee has produced a great book that chronicles the story of these eclectic individuals. Even better the book is peppered with photographs of the actual people and events.

Tip 1 – Ice cream wafers.

Wafers were first mentioned around 1770, and were included with iced desserts to aid digestion. Although not yet considered a “cone”, these wafers could be rolled into funnel-like shapes and filled with iced desserts.

Used Textbook Buyback Tips And Tricks

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

One of the best days for a college student is the day that they are completely finished with their final exams and they rush off and sell their used textbooks back to the school or other proximal bookstores. The relief of being done with classes and the chance to get a few extra bucks for those used textbooks is such a wonderful feeling and that night students usually use that money very “wisely” to relieve the stress of a work-filled semester.

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Everyone seems fixated by fishing flavours. Commonly the question asked is “What flavour bait are you using?” For most fishermen, what matters is that they like their smell of their flavour, which is an interesting point for debate… The fact is among the diverse multitude of flavours used in fishing baits are some which stand out more than others, but few fishermen know how or why this is the case.
