We have all seen it - the temper tantrum being thrown in the middle of a busy department store or supermarket, the poor mother dying a thousand deaths while her child rolls around on the floor screaming and threatening to throw up or kill something if they cannot have whatever it is that caused the tantrum in the first place.
Most children begin a program of assertiveness early on – about two or three years old, just when you are thinking you gave birth to an angel, out pops the son or daughter of Satan himself, disguised in a striped tee shirt and dungarees.

George Edalji (that’s Ay-dal-ji, by the way, since Parsee names are always stressed on the first syllable) is the son of a Staffordshire vicar of Indian origin and his Scottish wife. George is thus a half-cast, to use the language of his late-Victorian and Edwardian age. He’s a diligent, if not too distinguished a scholar. He is uninterested in sport, is of small stature and doesn’t see too well. He sleeps with his father behind a locked door, is in bed by 9:30, becomes a small town solicitor who develops an interest in train timetables and, by way of outlandish diversion, publishes a traveller’s guide to railway law.

Women inherently know what looks good on them. They also know that the power of fragrance is hard to beat for attraction. Someone can tell so much about you just from your perfume. There’s nothing quite like the personalized scent of a woman. Your fragrance, your makeup, your outfit, your shoes, and even your handbag make up the total package about who you are today, in today’s mood. Tomorrow might bring out a whole different you.

Life is funny if you let it be. Even when you feel like it shouldn’t be, deep down in your spirit there is humor waiting to giggle out into the world. David M. Jacobson reminds us to let the laughter loose in his book, “The 7 ½ Habits of Highly Humorous People.” It isn’t a joke book, but it is a delightful reminder to watch for the jokes in life, even, or maybe especially, the ones that are on you.

We live in an information overloaded society, yet we actually know so little. While I was reading this book I took a straw poll of some people I know, and 100% of them had no idea who the Colwell brothers, or Herb Allen are. So much information, yet so little knowledge is a real problem in today’s world. The three cowboy brothers and Herb, probably did more for world peace, or at least peaceful co-existence than any President, or any government organization has ever done. Frank McGee has produced a great book that chronicles the story of these eclectic individuals. Even better the book is peppered with photographs of the actual people and events.

Women love jewelry. It’s as simple as that. The thing most men don’t ever really understand is why. To men, it’s a shiny bauble that can cost a fortune and many times is only worn a few times a year. So, what do women want in fine jewelry? They don’t want a super expensive ring being given to them randomly, they want something thoughtful, well timed, and emotionally charged. Women associate a lot of their jewelry with special events.

As we all know, there are various forms of cancer that exist today and are ongoing problems. Every year many people alone in America suffer from cancer. The reason is due to a lack of understanding and knowledge on the people’s part. When a person knows enough about a particular thing, they improve their chances of living a healthy life. Making smart choices in what you eat and what you choose to participate in are good examples.

Much has been written and said about women having a power look with expensive high heel shoes regardless of what else is worn. What about men? Is there a 2007 power look for men? Is did the male power look die with the crash of 1987 or with the dotcom bust?
There is a power look for men but it is much more subtle than a pair of expensive high heel shoes flaunted by the women who have shattered the glass ceiling.
